My wife is smart and persuasive. Two days later I'm on a plane headed for Hilton Head, Sc where I would be "incarcerated" for 3 weeks. I had no idea what to expect but I assumed it would contain hours of exhausting exercises and large amounts of lettuce. I was not finding send to either.

Upon advent and check-in I meet my roommate Rocky; a very large ex-cop turned thriving entrepreneur from Vermont. It turns out this was not his first rodeo at fat camp. In fact, this was his 8th visit. I listened to his funny story about all the junk food he wolfed down last night; he even had pictures from his hotel room!

Rocky informs me, "What we usually do is stick with the agenda Monday through Friday and then party on the weekends...you in?"

Suddenly, I get religion. "Well, no. I'm here to learn how to lose weight and get healthy. I don't plan on returning for a second visit." Fortunately for both of us, Rocky got in my boat and we had a great 3 weeks together.

Our days started at 6am when we pedaled our rented bicycles over to camp central. We were loaded into a van and taken over to a beautiful, sandy beach where we brisk walked for about 45 minutes every morning. The sunrises were spectacular!

Meals were always thoughprovoking because of the unbelievable diversity of the habitancy in attendance. Mostly just "regular folks" with a few high profile individuals in the mix. There was a movie star and a supreme Court Judge just last week, we were told.

Our days were filled with informative classes, cooking demonstrations, and many, many practice sessions. Burn baby, burn...burn those calories! Hiking, bicycling, weight lifting, yoga, Zumba, swimming, spinning, treadmills, lunges, crunches...everything to keep us moving, active and construction lean muscle tissue.

It was a crazy three weeks that I will never forget. Rocky dropped 22 pounds and I dropped 17 while that period. We both went on to lose much, much more.

A weight loss vacation? I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to any manly man or girly girl who wants an exciting, healthy break from real life. You will never regret it!
